The Election Commission (EC) has received 34 complaints so far regarding the re-registration of eligible voters in the second round of the presidential election.
Speaking at a press conference at the Presidential Election Headquarters today, EC Vice-President Ismail Habib said the most complaints received were complaints stating that re-registration forms were submitted, even though they had not.
“Even if you submit the form online, you will get a message. In addition to the OTP, if you have such proof, it will be easier to submit a complaint with the proof. There is no problem in the portal,” Habib said.
He said the deadline for filing complaints expires at 9:00 pm and no further opportunity will be given. Therefore, it is important to confirm the polling station.
According to the Election Commission, 50,047 people applied for re-registration in the second round. 26,011 applied online and 24,036 applied by form. Of these, 20,902 online applications and 17,861 physical applications were verified, bringing the total to 28,763. A total of 11,284 applications, including 5,109 who applied online and 6,175 who applied by form, were not validated.
"Submissions that were not authenticated online included not verifying the person by photo, submitting expired documents and repeated submissions from both systems. Reasons for invalidation of forms included missing fingerprints, mismatched witness information, no telephone number to contact, submission of expired documents and repeated submissions from both systems. Even for the applications that were not confirmed, the commission provided every opportunity to ensure their validity,” Habib said.
