Election Commission (EC)has said a total of 50,000 applications were received for re-registration, out of which only 38,763 were valid.

EC's Vice President Ismail Habib told 'One' that the number of increased ballot boxes and more details will be revealed at a press conference at 10 am tomorrow.

"We will hold a press conference tomorrow to reveal more information," he said.

The increase in the number of ballot boxes kept for the second round is due to the fact that more people have re-registered to vote in this round, EC said. Habib tweeted yesterday that 50,000 applications were received for re-registration, out of which only 38,763 were valid.

"The submissions that were not verified online included not confirming the person by the photo, submitting expired documents, and repeated submissions from both systems. Reasons for not verifying the authenticity of the form include lack of fingerprints, lack of witness information, no phone number to contact, submission of expired documents and repeated submissions from both systems. Even for proposals that have not been verified, the commission has been able to do everything it can to ensure its authenticity," Habib said in a statement.

The EC had yesterday gazetted details of the changes in polling booths and the location of polling booths.
