Former Home Minister Umar Naseer has said he has no intention of forming a coalition with any party in the second round of the presidential election.

Umar received the fourth-highest number of votes in the first round of the presidential election held on Saturday. He received 6,343 votes. That’s more than the JP presidential candidate.

When asked if Umar would form a coalition with any party in the second round, he said, "Nothing is scheduled." He did not respond to whether Umar had submitted a proposal to form a coalition with any party.

Umar has previously said that he has only Plan A and that even if he does not win the election, he will not think about Plan B. He also said that he does not intend to keep his family members in government jobs after forming a coalition with another government, getting a ministerial post or 20 percent and 30 percent of the government.

Umar has previously said that he would rather do his own business than form a coalition with another party.

The second round of the presidential election is scheduled for the 30th of this month. The round will be contested by the PNC presidential candidate who won the most votes in the first round, Mohammed Muizzu and the second most voted MDP presidential candidate, President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih.

Various parties are in talks to form a coalition in preparation for the second round of the election. Only MNP has officially joined a coalition so far. The party has formed a coalition with the PPM-PNC. MNP presidential candidate, Mohamed Nazim, received 1,907 votes in the first round of the election.
