Six out of seven people arrested in connection with various incidents that took place during voting, have now been released, police said.
According to police, the accused in police custody currently is being held for showing his ballot paper.
Vice President of the Election Commission Ismail Habib said that a case has come to light in B. Thulhaadhoo where a person took a picture of the ballot paper. He said the man will not be released and will be investigated and sent to the Prosecutor General (PG) to be charged.
"A man in B. Thulhaadhoo used a pen to click a picture of his ballot paper. He is allowed to cast the ballot, but will be investigated for his actions and will be sent to the PG for legal action," Habib said
Habib added that voting commenced in Thulhaadhoo after some delays due to this incident.
