High Court has stated that the Court will be accepting electoral complaints starting Saturday.

The High Court on Thursday said that since it has the jurisdiction to deal with election complaints at the initial stage under the General Election Act, theCourt has taken steps to ensure that it is easily accessible to those who wish to file election complaints related to Saturday's election.

The high court counter will be open from 0900-2200hrs on Saturdays and Sunday, and starting Monday the Court counter will be open from 0900-1500hrs every day, except on Fridays until the deadline passes for electoral complaints.

High Court has also made arrangements to e-mail [email protected] to facilitate online filing of election complaints.

The High Court said that complaints can be filed at times other than the opening of the high court counter for filing election complaints. As such, the public can file complaints or clarify information in the High Court at any time other than those hours by contacting the Court on 7902206.

High court has urged the public to complete all the necessary information while filing electoral complaints with the case documents, including the reason for filing the complaint, its details and the evidence pertaining to the case.

The time limit prescribed in the law for filing election cases in the High Court is a maximum of 14 days after the official results of the elections are declared, which will be counted by including holidays.
