The President's Office National Awards Committee has announced that four individuals and one organisation will receive the National Award of Honour, while 17 individuals and one organisation will receive the National Award of Recognition at this year's official Independence Day ceremony.
The official Independence Day ceremony is set to take place at the Maldives Centre for Social Education (MCSE) on 26 July 2023, at 1000hrs.
During the ceremony, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will address the nation. The ceremony will also feature the presentation of several awards, including the National Award of Honour, the National Award of Recognition, the Special Medal for Memorising the Holy Quran, and the President's Award for Special Achievement.
Fifteen individuals will receive medals this year for achieving the highest rank in an academic or skill training course, while two honourees will be awarded for attaining the highest level in an international exhibition or competition.
One individual will be recognised for their skill and innovation, and one organisation will be acknowledged for its contributions. Additionally, ten individuals will be recognised for their outstanding achievement in memorising the Holy Quran while attaining the highest grade.
