Maldives Transport and Contracting Company have said that the app designed to provide Raajje Transport Link (RTL) service does not store any banking information of their customers in the systems.
Commenting on unverified rumors about the digital system of the RTL app, MTCC said that the company has always taken into account the feedback and information received from various individuals to make the RTL service more effective and improved since its inception.
They added that after receiving a report in early July about the presence of security vulnerability on the RTL app, the matter was investigated further and necessary precautions were taken and resolved immediately.
MTCC further highlighted that efforts are also being made to improve system security and no information will be stored in the company's systems to make undue gains by using any customer's bank card information.
"As part of the safety measures taken by the company, we do not store the banking information of our customers except to the extent and standard required for making a secure payment. In view of this, bank cards can be used in the RTL system in accordance with the security standards of the partnering bank," the statement said.
The company also noted that the digital tools used for card transactions in the RTL system are certified to the standards of the international payment card industry and the company is also using the Bank of Maldives payment gateway to accept money, Hence, all banking information of customers will be shared on the bank's secure platform, the company said in the statement.
"We, therefore, assure the customers that no banking information used by the customers in making payments using the RTL app will be stored in the company's system," it said.
