Opposition parliament members on Wednesday visited the President's Office to request the letter President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih sent to the Mauritian Prime Minister, stating that the Maldives recognizes Marutius' sovereignty over the Chagos Islands.
In a message shared by PPM and PNC with the media, they noted that opposition members had visited the President's Office at 11:30am to request for the letter.
Spokesperson at the President's Office, Miuvan Mohamed revealed to One Online that the opposition members had not requested for an official appointment to meet the President today.
A motion of no-confidence is also currently in the Parliament against Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath, alleging that the Maldives has lost a part of its maritime boundary. However, a vote on the motion was disrupted by parliamentarians earlier in the week.
While opposition members have visited the President's Office requesting the letter, Parliament Committee on National Security has also decided to request for the letter.
