Parliament's committee has decided to give Attorney General (AG) Ibrahim Riffath 30-minutes to answer towards the no-confidence motion submitted against him.
The no-confidence motion against AG Riffath was submitted with the signatures of 13 members pertaining to the maritime dispute between Maldives and Mauritius.
Kurandhoo constituency member Abdul Ghanee Abdul Hakeem suggested giving AG Riffath time to answer against the no-confidence motion as this has been common practice in the past.
AG Riffath would be presented 10 minutes at the beginning of the discussions, 10 minutes in between, and 10 minutes towards the end of the discussions. The remaining 1.5 hours would be given to the members, as per the suggestion.
MP Ghana's suggestion was seconded by Thoddoo constituency member Hassan Shiyan and was passed unanimously by the committee.
Speaker Mohamed Nasheed said on Thursday that AG Riffath has been given his 14-day notice over the no-confidence motion.
