Parliament has given go-ahead to the no-confidence motion against Attorney General (AG) Ibrahim Riffath.

An official from the parliament told 'One' on Monday that the motion can be processed according to constitution and parliamentary regulations.

The motion was filed against AG Riffath last week alleging that he failed to act in the best interest of Maldives in the maritime dispute between Maldives and Mauritius.

Parliament announced the motion had been filed by opposition with the support of Speaker Mohamed Nasheed during a press conference last week.

Minority leader at Parliament and PPM's PG Leader Ahmed Saleem said more no-confidence motions will be filed in the coming days.

For a no-confidence motion to pass, 43 member votes are needed out of the 87 members in the parliament.
