Presidential Commission on Deaths and Disappearances has presented their final report of findings to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on the enforced disappearance of Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla.
The Commission members presented their findings to President Solih during a meeting held at President's Office on Thursday afternoon.
The Commission members met with Rilwan's family afterwards and provided details about their inquiry and findings on the case.
President Solih noted the work done by the members of the Commission and advised the latter to share their findings with relevant authorities. President Solih also asked the Commission to proceed with Rilwan's case in accordance with the laws and regulations.
Speaking on Rilwan's case, Commission president Fareesha said that Rilwan had been targeted by extremists and had received multiple death threats leading up to his disappearance.
"They had repeatedly told Rilwan they will murder him," Fareesha said.
She also mentioned that the authorities were aware of the threats Rilwan was receiving but failed to take any action even though Police was taping Rilwan's calls under a Court order.
"The Commission did not find any substantial action taken by the Police in this case," Fareesha said.
