Women in Management Maldives (WIMMV) has signed an agreement with Fems, a company of Sri Lanka's Hemas Holdings, to provide sanitary napkins to students in Maldivian schools.

The agreement was signed during the 4th edition of the Professional & Career Women Awards at Kurumba Maldives Resort. Senior Executive at Hemas Holdings, Rajathan Christoper signed the agreement on behalf of the company while the President of WIMMV, Minha Faiz Rashad signed on behalf of the association.

Speaking to One Online today, Minha noted that Hemas originally set out to eradicate period poverty in Sri Lanka with the project, adding that they have decided to expand the project to the Maldives with WIMMV.

She further highlighted that upon speaking to several schools and principals, it was identified that the schools purchase sanitary napkins to be placed in their health rooms on their own, noting that with the project those schools will no longer have to do so.

Minha further noted that in the first phase, the project will be active for three months and will be extended based on the support it receives. She further revealed that a starting date would be finalized after discussions with the Education Ministry.
