Telecom giant Dhiraagu says that they are optimistic about getting their Dhiraagu TV license renewed.

Due to the changes in Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) rebroadcasting license regulations, Dhiraagu has not been able to renew their Dhiraagu TV license. As per the new regulations, companies with foreign shares cannot get rebroadcasting license in the Maldives - Dhiraagu's majority shares are owned by Bahrain's BATELCO.

Dhiraagu said on Sunday that they are hopeful about renewing the Dhiraagu TV license, and that they are in discussions with MBC currently. Dhiraagu said they will share updates with the customers.

Dhiraagu TV license will expire in January 2023. As such, if Dhiraagu is unable to renew their license for Dhiraagu TV, the services maybe discontinued.

Dhiraagu TV has gained popularity amongst subscribers across the nation, Dhiraagu said.
