Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has conveyed condolences to Ethiopian Foreign Minister, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu.  

The message of condolences were concerning a recent Ethiopian Airlines flight that crashed shortly after takeoff while enroute to Nairobi, Kenya from Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa.

Minister Shahid noted in his message that he had heard the news of the incident with a heavy heart. The Minister further conveyed condolences from the Maldivian government and people to the families of the victims of the plane crash.

The plane that crashed yesterday, shortly after takeoff had been carrying 149 passengers and 8 crew members. There have been no reports of any survivors at this time.
