The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has revealed that they received a total of 214 cases to be charged, during the month of September.

Statistics published by the office revealed that 70 of the 214 cases were sent back to clarify further information regarding the case, while only 60 cases were accepted by the office.

The majority of the cases submitted to the office during the month of September were related to drugs and theft. Among those were 61 cases of using drugs, six cases of drug trafficking, three cases of drug transactions, and two cases of peddling drugs.

In addition to these, there were 20 cases of robbery, 14 cases of break-ins, and 14 cases of theft.

The PGO also revealed that there were 447 case hearings at the Criminal Court, 80 at the Hulhumale' Magistrate Court, and 186 at the Drug Court. 354 hearings at the Criminal Court were canceled, 77 at the Hulhumale' Magistrate Court, and 74 at the Drug Court.

Police were the institution to have submitted the most number of cases to be prosecuted. As such they had submitted 202 cases to be prosecuted, with the ACC submitting ten cases and the HRCM submitting two cases.
