A Gaafu Alif Gemanafushi man has passed away unexpectedly today, while on a fishing trip.

Gemanafushi Council President Ibrahim Nashid revealed to One Online that the deceased is 50-year-old Mohamed Waseem.

He added that Waseem passed away while on a fishing trip about 50 miles away from Gemanfushi this afternoon around 2:30pm.

Nashid added that Waseem's body is being brought back to the island on the boat.
