Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, has said that Maldivian democracy has been improving since President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih took office.

Minister Shahid said this while speaking at the 40th session of the Human Rights Council High level segment.

He said in his speech that Maldives has resolutely refused a dictatorship and embraced democracy.

Additionally, he said that the Maldivian public has accepted fundamental human rights as well as the Freedom of Assembly and Speech.

The Minister offered assurances in his speech that this country will remain steadfast in providing fundamental human rights and bringing about positive change.
