The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 171,649 after another 298 people have tested positive.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 21 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 247 from the atolls, 28 from the resorts.

In the same time frame, 419 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 156,871 with another 14,766 people still in treatment including 11 people in hospitals.

There have been 297 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 278 locals, 19 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
