The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 145,036 after another 1,834 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 748 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 698 from the atolls and 65 from the resorts.

In the same time frame, 2,140 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 127,330 with another 17,413 people still in treatment including 60 people in hospitals.

There have been 280 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 262 locals, 18 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
