The safe stolen during the breaking and entering of the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) office in Hulhumale' has been found with the suspects arrested on Friday at Hulhumale' Phase Two attempting to smuggle a large quantity of prison contraband.

They were arrested in a special operation on Friday morning after officers saw two people take a safe up to one of the towers in phase two.

And while the initial search of the two people did not yield much, Futher questioning and inquiries led to four others at an apartment at a Hiyaa Tower with what is suspected of being what was carried in the safe.

Police Media Officer told ONE Online that the safe involved in the case has been identified as the safe from MIRA Hulhumale' Office which was broken into after the door was broken.

The media officer said that according to MIRA, the safe contain a sum of money between MVR 1,800 and 2,000.

Police said that they seized 18 mobile phones, 28 chargers, 28 headsets, ten memory cards, 12 SIM cards and other cables and such were found in the apartment. And the investigation revealed that these were contraband prepared to be smuggled in to a prison.

The six suspects were remanded by five days by the Criminal Court according to the Police.
