Famous local businessman, Sentu Adam Manik, has passed away while undergoing treatment for with COVID-19.

He was 73 years old when he passed away.

This most recent death has raised the total number of COVID-19 related deaths this month to ten while a total of 255 locals and 18 foreigners have passed away due to the illness in the country with a total of 273 cases. The highest reported COVID deaths on a single day in the Maldives has been on 25 May 2021 where 13 deaths were reported.

The first COVID-related death reported in the country was on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old local woman.
