Another 699 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours raising the total number of recoveries to 100,811.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 699 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 100,811 with another 11,535 people still in treatment including 49 people in hospitals.

In the same time frame, 677 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 680 from the atolls and 60 from the resorts.

Yesterday marked the highest number of positive cases reported on a single day totalling at 2,199. Since Wednesday, the daily cases have been above 2,000.

There have been 269 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 251 locals, 18 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
