A 25-year-old woman has passed away due to complications with COVID-19 raising the total number of COVID related deaths in the country to 266.

The woman from Gaafu Alifu Atoll Maamendhoo passed away late last night.

With this most recent COVID-related death, a total of 248 locals and 18 foreigners have passed away in the Maldives due to COVID-19.

The highest reported COVID deaths on a single day in the Maldives has been on 25 May 2021 where 13 deaths were reported.The first COVID-related reported in the country was reported on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old local woman.
