Nine islands have been placed under monitoring as the COVID-19 situation in the atolls worsen.

The list of islands placed under monitoring by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) today are H.Dh. Hanimaadhoo, B. Eydhafushi, B. Dhonfanu, N. Landhoo, N. Miladhoo, Lh. Hinnavaru Th. Vilufushi, Th. Hirilandhoo and G.Dh. Rathafandhoo.

Statistics released by the HPA last night show the highest number of positive cases are reported in the atolls. Last 24 hours report 119 positive cases from the atolls.

There have been 26 cases reported from Dh. Kudahuvadhoo, 21 cases from H.A. Dhidhoo, 16 cases from H.Dh. Hanimaadhoo, 29 cases from N. Manafaru and 27 from Th. Vilufushi along with 60 cases from B. Eydhafushi where a pediatric doctor working at the Eydhafushi Hospital has tested positive as well.

A total of 21 islands are currently under monitoring status due to the COVID-19 situation. The longest in monitoring has been Addu City which has spent four months so far.
