Full report of investigation conducted by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on corruption at Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has been made public today.
The report showed that various islands and lagoons had been leased by MMPRC to facilitate corruption.
The report by ACC showed that while the case of 57 of these islands have currently been investigated, the State is to receive USD 77.5 million in acquisition cost of islands and lagoons.
The report showed that of this amount, only USD 12.5 million had entered MMPRC. As such, there is a remaining amount of USD 59.6 million still not returned to MMPRC.
The report consisting of 776 pages revealed all exchanges made and as well as account transfers made. Additionally, the amount owed to the State as acquisition fees of islands and lagoons have also been made public.
The report has revealed that various companies and politicians had interacted with SOF Pvt. Ltd. involved in the corruption scandal
