Police: No arrest made in mugging case at Phase Two

Maldives Police Service has said that no arrests have been made so far on connection to the mugging of an elderly man at Hulhumale' Phase Two.

A video of the victim of this crime explaining how his phone and wallet were taken, have recently hit social media.

The man explained that he was first tapped on and then pushed towards the corner of a wall which caused various injuries to his arm.

Police has confirmed that an 85-year-old man was mugged at Hulhumale' Phase Two on of 17 November 2021.

In response to a question from ONE Online regarding the case, police media officer said that an investigation is underway and no arrests have been made so far.

Many have raised concerns regarding the crime aiming criticism to the government and law enforcement calling on them to protect the public as a new area is being populated.
