The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 90,464 after 124 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 20 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 87 from the atolls and 17 from the resorts.

In the same time frame, 80 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 88,119. There are 2,084 active cases at the moment with 16 being treated in hospitals.

There have been 248 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 231 locals, 17 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
