Speaker of the Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed has given his statement to the investigation into the bombing attack that targeted him earlier this year.

On 6 May 2021, an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on a motorcycle near the residence of the former President, Mohamed Nasheed, was detonated as he was entering his car.

Maldives Police Service had asked for a statement in the past as well. Since the former President was abroad for treatment following the attack, police has asked for a written statement.

President Nasheed's legal representation in the case, his brother Ahmed Nazim Abdul Sattar told ONE Online today that the former President gave the statement to the investigation today.

Nice people have been arrested so far in connection to the bombing attack in May and their trials are ongoing at the Criminal Court.
