The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 86,605 after 55 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 21 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 21 from the atolls and 13 from the resorts.
In the same time frame, 112 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 85,030 with another 1,322 people still in treatment of which 18 people are being treated at hospitals.
There has been 237 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 220 locals, 17 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
