The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 85,977 after 45 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 14 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 27 from the atolls and 4 from the resorts.

In the same time frame, 68 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 84,519 with another 1,208 people still in treatment of which 16 people are being treated at hospitals.

There has been 237 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 220 locals, 17 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
