After 46 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 85,394.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, seven people tested positive in the Male' area along with 35 from the atolls and four from the resorts.

In the same time frame, 25 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 83,809 with another 1,339 people still in treatment.

There has been 233 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 216 locals, 17 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
