Tourist arrivals to Maldives increase by 6.5 percent on January 2019 when compared to last year’s numbers on January 2018. As such, the biggest increase in tourist arrivals are from India.
Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed said this during a press conference held by the Ministry. The Minister noted that the greatest progress in tourist arrival numbers on January 2019 were from India.
As such, when compared to tourist arrivals from last year’s January, the Ministry reported a 37 per cent increase in the arrivals of tourists from India.
While the most amount of tourists typically arrive to Maldives from China, the number of tourist arrivals from China dropped by 0.7 per cent on January 2019.
The Ministry reported that the maximum number of tourists arrived to Maldives on January from China encompassing 17 per cent of tourists arrivals. The second most frequent arrivals are from Italy with 11 percent while tourist arrivals from India were the third most frequent with 7.7 per cent.
