The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 83,332 after 84 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 37 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 37 from the atolls and nine from the resorts.

In the same time frame, 170 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 81,404 with another 1,686 people still in treatment with 18 people being treated in hospitals, according to HPA.

There has been 229 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 212 locals, 17 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
