The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 82,578 after 103 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 82 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 80,236 with another 2,102 people still in treatment.

In the same time frame, 35 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 56 from the atolls and nine from the resorts.

There has been 227 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 211 locals, 17 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
