Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Faresmaathodaa has been placed under monitoring after a random sample from the island has tested positive for COVID-19.

The island's health center said that following the positive testing, contact tracing is underway at the island.

In the past 24 hours, 157 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country with most of them reported from the atolls. And so, 106 cases were reported from the atolls while 45 cases were reported from Male' City and six cases reported from the resorts.
