Employers have been ordered to have their employees that have not gotten any dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to require PCR tests before coming to work.

An announcement made by the Economic Ministry today said that businesses are also required to take action against employees who has not gotten any dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

And so, all registered business including partnerships and corporative societies are required to have their employees fully vaccinated. And those who have not gotten any dose of a COVID vaccine need to get a negative PCR test to return to the workplace. The ministry also advises to prioritize vaccinated employees at import businesses and food businesses.

The ministry also ordered gyms and salons to refuse service to customers who have not gotten any dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Economic Ministry advises all eligible for COVID vaccinations to get vaccinated as part of the special effort directive against the spread of COVID-19 coming Director General of Public Health.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has previously announced that unvaccinated individuals would face difficulties in travel as vehicles, vessels and domestic aircrafts are going to require to abide by the regulations of the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

The HPA regulations would force hotels, cafés and restaurants to turn away customers who have not completed any dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

So far, 383,620 people have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in the Maldives while only 302,182 people have completed the full two doses.
