A 92-year-old woman in quarantine after being identified as a direct contact in Addu City has passed away.

Addu Equatorial Hospital said that a sample taken before the funeral has tested positive for COVID-19.

An official from the Equatorial Hospital told One Online today that the elderly woman was taken from home quarantine to the medical facility this morning and was declared dead at 7:20 a.m.

This marks the third COVID-related death from Addu City. Yesterday also saw a COVID-related death in the Maldives after a person being treated at the Hulhumale' Treatment Facility passed away.

With the COVID death reported from Addu City today, the COVID-19 death toll in the country has risen to 224.
