The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 78,926 after 111 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 24 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 79 from the atolls.

In the same time frame, 241 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 76,732 with another 1, 960 people still in treatment including 19 people in hospitals.

There has been 222 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 205 locals, 17 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020.
