Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has decided to set a new regulation for domestic travel starting next month that does not require a negative PCR test.

Speaking at the HEOC press conference today, Spokesperson Dr. Nazlaa Rafeeq said that a decision has been made to ease some travel restriction for those who have gotten the full dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Currently, a negative PCR test that is less than 72 hours old is required for domestic travel from one island to another for those who are fully vaccinated.

Dr. Nazlaa said that those who are fully vaccinated can travel to an island without a negative PCR test if the 90 percent of its population over the age of 12, has been vaccinated.

She said that the eligible islands would have,90 percent of its population over the age of 12 vaccinated along with 95 percent of its population over the age of 65 vaccinated and if it's a tourism industry island, 95 percent of those working in the sector has to be vaccinated as well.

The HEOC Spokesperson said that the departure island is also required to have a sample positivity under five percent.
