A COVID-19 related death has been reported from Fuvahmulah City.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that a 94-year-old local man passed away due to complications with COVID-19 at 9 a.m. this morning.
HPA said that the man tested positive for COVID-19 and was taken to Fuvahmulah Atoll Hospital for treatment.
With this most recent death, the total COVID death toll in the Maldives has reached 222.
Despite the low number of cases in the capital recently, it has been spreading in some of the atolls.
In the last 24 hours, there has been 86 positive cases in the country, according to the HPA, and the total number of COVID-19 cases is at 77,633.
Yesterday's figures consists of 31 cases from Male' City area, 37 people from the atolls and 18 people from the resorts.
