MET Office: Heavy rain and swell waves expected in Central, North atolls

Maldives Meteorological Service has issued an Oange Weather Alert to the Central and Northern atolls of the country with a forecast of heavy rain and swell waves.

Orangen Alert is the second highest level of weather alerts.

The alert from the MET Office said that upto 9 p.m. the tonight, torrential rain and strong winds between 34-40 mphs with the possibility of swell waves are expected at the islands from Haa Alifu Atoll to the Kaafu Atoll.

Severe weather is a norm in the country every year around June/July.
