Maldives Meteorological Service had issued a Yellow Weather Alert for the islands from Kaafu Atoll to the Alifu Dhaalu Atoll.

The alert issued from 12:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. today advises caution due to strong winds between 25-30 mph with gusts of 40 mph along with rough seas.

An official from the MET Office told ONE Online that rough seas and heavy rain is expected across the country for the next 24 hours.

The official said that the weather is expected to get better after the 18 December but until then, all areas of the country are expected to have severe weather.

Seafarers are advised caution when traveling and advised to get the latest information on the weather before traveling.
