The total number of covid-19 related deaths in the country has risen to 189 after an elderly man has passed away at the Laamu Gan COVID Treatment Facility.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the elderly local man passed away at 9:13 a.m. this morning. COVID-19 death toll in the country is currently at 189 with 174 locals and 15 foreigners.

Maldives saw the highest deaths on a single day so far on 25 May 2021 with 13 deaths. The first COVID-19 related death in the country was reported on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old local woman.
