Following the passing of a COVID-19 patient in the Maldives, the total number of COVID-related deaths in the country has risen to 165.
One Online has learned that the most recent COVID-related death was that of a 50-year-old local man who passed away at 5:45 a.m. at the Hulhumale' Facility.
This morning, another COVID-related death was reported from the Zone B Regional COVID Management Facility in Baa Atoll. The Eydhafushi Hospital said that an 87-year-old local man from Raa Atoll Hulhudhuffaaru passed away at the facility at 4:40 a.m. this morning.
A 70-year-old local man passed away at the Hulhumale' Facility between 12 a.m. and 4 a.m. this morning while a 59-year-old local woman passed away after 6 a.m.
The highest number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country so far has been reported on 25 May 2021 with 13 deaths.
Maldives reported its first COVID-related death on 29 April 2020.
A fourth wave of COVID-19 hit the country in late April with the daily number of COVID-19 cases over 1,000. The number has started to drop down again.
With the seemingly uncontrollable spread, the government has implemented strict measures in the Male' City area and the islands under monitoring.
