Covid-19 situation worsens in the Maldives as HPA reports 1,062 new cases today.

The total number of Covid-19 cases is now 62,906 after another 1,062 people test positive for the illness today.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 1,062 people have tested positive including 599 people in Male' area and 353 from the atolls. HPA did not clarify numbers in terms of locals and foreigners.

In the same time frame, 1,371 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 38,233 with another 24,507 people still in treatment.

So far, there have been 157 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 143 locals, 14 foreign nationals.
