Total COVID-19 recoveries in the Maldives has reach 27,672 after another 244 recoveries today.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) statistics show 15,003 active cases and 290 people being treated at various hospitals.

Meanwhile, 1,467 cases of COVID-19 was reported in the Maldives today, raising the total number of COVID cases in the country to 42,775. In a fourth wave of COVID to hit the country, the number of daily cases increased from over 600 a day to over 1,000 in a matter of days.

HPA said that 939 cases confirmed positive today were from samples collected between 6 p.m. of 13 May to 6 p.m. on 14 May 2021.

And so, 182 cases from the inhabited islands and 18 cases from the resorts were confirmed in the past 24 hours.

So far, there have been 91 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives, that includes 80 locals, 11 foreign nationals. Today alone saw four deaths of COVID-19 patients.
