With 1,467 cases of COVID-19 reported in the Maldives today, the total number of COVID cases in the country has reach 42,775.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that 939 cases confirmed positive today were from samples collected between 6 p.m. of 13 May to 6 p.m. on 14 May 2021.

And so, 182 cases from the inhabited islands and 18 cases from the resorts were confirmed in the past 24 hours.

In the same time frame, 244 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 27,672 with another15,003 active cases and 290 people being treated at various hospitals.

So far, there have been 91 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives, that includes 80 locals, 11 foreign nationals. Today alone saw four deaths of COVID-19 patients.

In a fourth wave of COVID to hit the country, the number of daily cases increased from over 600 a day to over 1,000 in a matter of days.
