A fourth COVID-19 related death has been reported in the Maldives raising the total number of COVID deaths in the country to 91.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced on Twitter that a 78-year- old local man brought to the Emergency Room at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) was declared dead at 12:48 p.m.

This most recent death marks 91 COVID-related deaths in the country.

COVID situation in the country has gotten worse in the past few weeks spreading it across the country and strict measures being implemented. And so, the Male' City area currently has a curfew from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. while cafés and restaurants are allowed delivery services only.

To implement the curfew and other restrictions, Maldives Police Service is now being aided by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) as well.
