A total of 141 people have been fined for not wearing masked while 116 people were fined for violating the curfew.

Speaking at the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) press conference last night, the Spokesman of the President's Office, Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said that 141 people were fined in the past 24 hours for not wearing masks.

He said that another 116 people were fined for being outside during the lockdown curfew along with another ten people for driving during the vehicle ban hours.

Mabrook said that as part of the mass inspection that is underway, 65 guesthouses were checked and one of those were in violation of the current regulations. And 40 businesses were checked as well and 15 of those businesses were in violation as well.

With the surge in COVID-19 cases in the country, strict measures have been implemented in the capital Male' City and a number of islands in the atolls.
