An elderly person who passed away in Kaafu Atoll Maafushi has tested positive for COVID-19.

With this, the total deaths for today stand at three.

HPA said that this morning a 74-year-old Maldivian male in K. Maafushi, declared dead at 09:45am, has tested positive to COVID19. They noted that the person was dead on arrival at the hospital.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has ordered that a person with COVID-19 passes away, they are to be buried as soon as possible. And hold small funerals as part of the efforts to control the spread.

With this most recent development, a total of 76 locals and 11 foreigners have passed away in the Maldives due to COVID-19.

The country first reported a COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020.
